I decided to go for a long ride today because the weather was pretty nice(Workout Data). Especially compared to the weather that we have been having lately. I didn't check the wind direction before i left soo..... naturally i headed out with the wind at my back rather than in my face like i normally prefer on a ride (that way i have it at my back on the way home).
I headed east first and crossed I-29 without any real incident. Not very long after i turned north towards Spink, Sd i got chased for nearly a quarter mile by two black labs that didnt want to give up despite the fact that i was quickly out distancing them. I was planning this ride based on a route that i had planned out before, but i didnt really know all the details so when i hit SD HWY 48, the first east-west paved road i figured that it would be the one to take me back across I-29.
Well, it did. However, as soon as i cross the interstate i found myself on a gravel road. Thinking that i was close to my North-South paved road that i wanted i braved it for several miles. For those of you who don't know, gravel really sucks when you are riding on top 1 inch wide tires. When i did reach a paved road i thought it was University and headed north hoping to ride past one of my co-worker's house, but it wasn't the road i thought i was. I stopped and ate some granola and took these pictures which i later found out was very near to the tiny town of Greenfield, SD.

I then headed home. Into the wind. Trying to outrace those storm clouds. Which were headed right at me. I made it home in time and it looked like the storm was going to miss me so i decided to keep going a little longer as a cooldown. That's when i got soaked. I dont mean a drizzle, i mean an all out downpour. Then it started to throw in some hail. I decided i had better take cover and headed for cover at a nearby friend's place but as soon as i got there it stopped raining and i was rewarded with this.
Below is a pic of the tail-end of the storm
